Snow Kiting
Snowkiting is the answer for those of you that don't live near the beach all year or where it snows enough that your summer water riding spot becomes frozen. We all wish that we could live on the beach but the reality is we don't, so snow kiting has evolved especially for those of you who live in flat areas without a ski resort nearby. With a snowboard(or skis) and a basic kite you can have a blast in any boring flat area with just a little bit of wind.
Snow kiting has grown rapidly in recent years and as you can see from the video below, the riding ability has become amazing.
Basically if you already kiteboard then you just need a snowboard/skis and you can use all your waterkiting gear. If you are new to kiting then get a trainer kite first and learn how to control the kite. Then see if anyone else locally snow kites(if no kite shop, then talk to your local snowboard/ski shop) to save you a lot of hassle of figuring out equipment,etc......as a beginner. If starting out then get a trainer kite and a small used inflatable or foil kite(used because you will beat it up on the ground when launching,etc...) and try it out. You don't want to be overpowered on a big kite while on land and by using a smaller kite and cranking the kite up/down(powerstroke) you generally will have enough power once you get moving.
